I’m excited to say that I can now fish in real life as well as Minecraft. For this, we have my late Paternal Grandfather (or “Papa Don”, as I like to refer to him as) to thank. He was way into fishing, so I inherited some of his fishing gear. He had droves of every different kind of fishing gear you can think of, so I just took what looked nicest out of the old selection. I picked the fishing rod that has my favorite colors. Some of the hooks had never been taken out of their store packaging. His old tackle box holds the stuff I’m referring to. I’ll still have to get a bobber. Papa Don always tied fishing line onto a cork to use it as a bobber, and drank the bottle of wine that he got the cork from, so that tradition will continue (even if not on a regular basis).
Fishing is a hobby that I expect to also enjoy for decades to come. It’s a nice way to relax and get fresh air. I’ll never forget the first time I caught a 10″ trout on our old lakeside family property. That was the first time I ever caught any fish. That trout was my lunch, and it was delicious!

I’ll probably do boat fishing with my brother-in-law as well as lakeside fishing. I look forward to seeing what kind of fish I catch in the future. It’ll feel like fishing in Minecraft, except I don’t have a pet ocelot to tame with the salmon.
